Dog, this winter has been brutal on low riders like me! I like ice cubes as well as the next guy but there comes a point where it is too much of a good thing. Trying to take a leak in snow up to my shoulders ain't no barking matter!

The Moms were kind enough to dig out a big section in the front yard just so "the boy" would do his thing.

The so called "dog days of summer" are finally over and if you ask me, they weren't so dog friendly - way too hot for this pup! Looking forward to lots of ball chasing down at Gillham Park now that the temps are more Mom friendly too. The Moms say I get too bossy when I am hanging out at the Bark Park and since all I want to do is chase the ball anyway, I might as well play in my own neighborhood. Works for me!

I'm a hot dog in so many ways. Not only am I stunningly handsome dude but I also am cooking in this heat and hum-did-i-tee! It's keeping me from all of my peeps and pups at the Penn Valley Dog Park (PVDP) cause the Moms think it is too hot for me to run around. This morning one of the Moms participated in the PVDP cleanup/beautification project sponsored by Nutromax/Greenies. She said that it was a belated barkday present for me since I turned two on June 14. Maybe the weather will cooperate and I can actually enjoy it. I think I would've rather gotten some biscuits instead!

Bow woooooww! Spring is finally here! The Moms are in such a better mood these days! They even took me to the family Easter gathering where I got to hang out with my new buds, George and Zoe. The Moms gave me major props for being such a good guy and not getting into any trouble. I might get to go with them to the next family gig! Sa-weeet!

Yo, I think snow is pretty fun but enough already. Sheesh! Not only is it cold as heck to squat in, it's also cut into my quality play time at my favorite hangout, Penn Valley Dog Park. If I didn't have my Mean Kitters to boss around, I would be totally bored. The Moms keep telling me that Spring is just around the corner but I will believe when I smell it!

Dog, what's up with all this itchin'? One moment I am running around playing, playing, playing, playing and the next moment I can't walk two feet without having to stop and scratch an itch or lick a paw. The Moms keep begging me to stop but it ain't easy! Yesterday I thought I was headed to Penn Valley Dog Park, my favorite place to hang but I ended up at Noah's Ark. I was fooled!! At least Dr. Kris is nice and told me how handsome I look. Love the ladies! I have to take a pill for a while but it is supposed to help me feel better. The best news is that I can keep going to PVDP on the weekends. I found me a sweet little Corgi mix pup named Nina to wrestle with. Like I said before-Love the ladies!

Family Affair

Dog, it's hard to keep up with this blog thing but The Moms keep saying that once I start something I have to finish it. Whatever. I just want to play, play, play, play, play and play! Luckily I get to do that every day which is way cool. On Sunday I finally got to see my sister, Carly, who at first didn't seem so happy to see me. Like a typical sister, she was a bit snappy but after a few minutes she realized that I wasn't some Joe Schmoe off the street and got a lot nicer to me. I found out that she likes sticks as much as I do! She seems to be settling in with her new Moms and all of her kitters. I told her that my Mean Kitters have softened up a lot and we get along really well except when I start dragging Beaux around by his head. Mom Diane gets way freaked out by that one even though the kitter doesn't seem to mind. All's fair in love and war, right? Hopefully, Carly's moms will soon post the pics she took of us hanging out together. My moms forgot their camera and missed a major Kodak moment. What up with that??

The Mean Kitters and I were really happy when The Moms got back from their week in the US Virgin Islands. I got to go on my vacation at Kim and Casey's house while The Moms were gone. I played non-stop with my new best friends, Spark, until we were both ready to drop. I am trying to figure out how to get The Moms to go somewhere else so I can go have more fun!

Not much happening around here since The Moms fell off the Facebook and eBay wagons. They spend most of their time with a stupid computer on their laps. Bor-ing! Mom Diane takes lots of breaks from Facebook to play with me but I fill in the other times by chasing the Mean Kitters - cheap entertainment. There was a bit of excitement the other day when the DogWatch rep came to talk about their pet containment system. I managed a great escape out the front door when he was being let in and headed straight for this pretty girl who was walking her yippy little Taco Bell dog. I was just trying to say hello but the squirt started screaming and running in circles and The Mom was going in circles trying to grab me. It was the most fun I've had in awhile!

The Moms always say "Time flies when you are having fun." I guess that's why it always feels as if months go by a day at a time! I'm having lots of fun even though I'm occassionally a little gimpy on my left front leg. The Moms thought it might be because of all the rolling I do at the dog park when the big dudes bully me and from the chasing of the Mean Kitters all around the house. Mom Diane took me to Dr. Faris, who is a holistic vet, to get her opinion and see if acupunture was needed. Even though I wasn't very good at laying still, she finally found the sore trigger point in my shoulder and showed The Mom how to massage it. She said I was a bit too heavy (33.7 lbs!) for my age and frame (I prefer "husky") and recommended that The Moms cut down on treats with carbohydrates and start mixing in wet food with my Innova Evo kibbble. Also, since I am already a "hot" dog in a Chinese medicine sort of way, I needed "cold" foods like beef, turkey or rabbit rather than chicken or lamb which are "hot". So now I get to eat rabbit twice a day and I don't even have to hunt them down first. Sa-weeet! Now if I can just figure out a way to get the vet to recommend that I eat the Mean Kitters food every day, I would be set!

Lots of positive vibes around the house today. Must be because of that Obama dude. I'm glad he showed up on the scene because he provided much needed distraction for me with The Moms. I was in the dog house big time for chewing up the digital pen that came with the brand new HP Pavilion notebook. Especially when they found out how much a replacement one cost. Hey, it wasn't my fault that it was so left so easily accessible when Mom Mary went to the kitchen to make herself some lunch! Come on, I'm a 7 month old puppy. What do you expect me to do when I see a brand new stick? Get over it! Here are the top Six reasons Why I'm Worth It (that's as far as I know how to count right now...)

6. I am cheaper to feed than those Mean Kitters
5. My barking scares away all the evil doers - even imaginary ones
4.My exceedingly handsome looks generate great conversation wherever I go
3. I don't take up much space in the house or the car
2. I'm a great excuse for impulse shopping.
1. I'm cheap entertainment that doesn't require batteries!

Who Let the Dogs Out?

I've heard that there was this place in KCMO where cool dudes like me can run around and have fun without the "leash police" giving us a hard time and I finally got to go - two days in a row! One of The Moms took me to the Penn Valley Dog Park and I had a blast. There were a ton of dogs there each day. At first, I had to put up with some of the bigger dogs picking on me. One big Mastiff dude sat on me and tried to fight another dog who was trying to get to me. I think they weren't sure if I was a pup or a stuffed toy!! The Mom came to my rescue and they finally left me alone. I had a really great time playing with some dogs that were just my size. I even met a tricolor Pembroke named Primo. He barked even more than me! All the peeps kept asking The Mom what kind of dog I was. They had never seen a Cardi and there a lot of comments about my big ears and feet. I think they were just jealous of my exceedingly handsome looks. Can't wait to go back there again!

You Wish Me a Merry Christmas

The Moms keep telling me that Christmas isn't all about me. Hel-lo. I'm not the one that keeps buying me toys, especially ones with ears that I can chew off in 30 seconds or less. I keep telling them that little black bugs are total fun to play with cause I eat them when I am done playing!

How about this weather! Snow is way cool stuff! It's like the ground is covered with a huge ice cube, my all time favorite treat!! I can't decide whether to eat it, turn it yellow or just wear it on the end of my nose. I was hoping that Mom Diane would take an outside picture of me in the snow but she was too afraid that the camera would freeze to her face. Instead she took some inside shots of me and my mean evil eye kitters, Beaux and Gracie. They are soooo jealous that I get to go out in the front yard and they can't. They are alway biting my ears. I hope Santa brings them lumps of coal for Christmas!

The Moms say that I am finally growing into my feet and ears. I weighed 28 lbs at my last visit at the doc's. It's all muscle, of course. I am thinking of sending this pic into Playdog magazine.

Well, I hope that everyone has a wonderful and merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. A special Happy Birthday shout out to my Mom Diane who turns 50 tomorrow! At least one thing is for sure. She will always be older than me!

In Deep Doo Doo

The Moms are not so happy with me right now. This weekend I got three new toys: a soft soccer ball, a crunchy sock monkey and a rubber toy made for "the toughtest chewers." I guess that I got a bit carried away with using my set of new grown up pearly whites that I ripped them all apart before the weekend was over. Yikes! Later, when I was looking for one of my toys under the telephone table, I decided to sample one of the table legs. I didn't get very far before I got caught by The Moms. Then, last night while The Moms were intently watching Heroes, I found the plug to one of the floor lamps in the living room and chewed it off of the electrical cord. I got sent to bed early for that one. :-( Trust me. Sometimes it's no fun being in the "dog house" even when you are a dog! I guess I need to "chews" more wisely in the future!!

One moment I was minding my own business and struttin' my stuff and the next thing I knew I had no stuff to strut! What's up with that?!! I guess this is what The Moms meant when they said it was time to "nip it in the bud." Harsh! At least I was well taken care of by Dr. Kris and the nice gals at Noah's Ark Vet Clinic. The hardest part of it all is that I can't chase my mean kitters around the house for a whole 10 days! Bor-ing!!!

The Dos and Donuts of Life

Life just got a little more complicated. Yesterday, one of The Moms took me to see Dr.Kelly at Noah's Ark Vet Clinic. She was worried about my oozy right eye and my inflamed left ear. The doc said I have a yeast infection in my ear along with Pink Eye. I don't know about you but that just doesn't sound very manly to me. Now I have eye drops put in three times a day and ear medicine once a day. And to make matters even more interesting, I am in full blown teething mode. When I was at the doc's, I shook my head and one of my baby teeth flew out of my mouth on to the table! I guess that is why my puppy/doggy breath has been pretty bad lately. Even the Kitters, Beaux and Gracie, hold their breath if I get too close!

Later I heard my mom say something about bringing me back in early December to get something "nipped in the bud" since I am almost six months old. Hmmmm. Wonder what she is talking about? I guess I will find out eventually but until then I will play, play, play, play, play!

Last night The Moms took me to my first puppy class at the Greater Kansas City Dog Training Club. There were five other pups around my age, some bigger and some even smaller than me! We worked on the Sit, Down and Stand commands. I can sit and stand with the best of them but that down stuff is hard! I either have my butt in the air or I am belly up on my back. Who wants to lay down anyway when standing up is way more fun??

I kept trying to tell the other squirts in the class that I might be small but I am pretty dang mighty but The Moms kept shushing me. Like that works or something. Whatever. At least The Moms fed me lots of treats so there was pay off to all that hard work. I had them trained really well!

Saturday in the Park-Kids, Cake and Baseball

What a blast I had at cuz Will's three year birthday party at Antioch Park! All the kids wanted to pet me.I showed The Moms that I could play nicely and not jump all over everyone. There was birthday cake everywhere including on cuz Emma's hands and she let me clean them for her. I think I did a pretty good job!

Cuz Will loves baseball and got lots of cool birthday gifts including a KC Royals uniform and ball cap. He even got to swing a bat at a baseball pinata! What a lucky dude!

I finally got the chance to show my own baseball prowess. Just like cuz Will said about himself "I'm a natural!"

Big Bad Beaux

This is one of my kitties. He is always trying to get me in trouble with The Moms by whining when I pester, I mean play, with him. Sometimes he hauls off and whacks me a good one but I don't let that slow me down too much. Most of the time we get along pretty well. All in all he is not too bad to live with.

Travel Tail

Phew, the last 10 days were a whirlwind! There were lots of firsts for me. I got to go with The Moms on my first long distance car ride. We traveled to St. Louis to celebrate the 83rd birthday of Mom Diane's Pop on Saturday October 4th. On the way there we stopped off in a park in Columbia MO and I got to run off leash for the very first time. I ran in circles like a crazy man and barked my little head off. What a blast!!

While in St Louis, we stayed at the house belonging to Mom Diane's parents. I met her brother, Ted and his partner, Curt, who also stayed at the house. They are totally awesome dudes! We played and played and played and played and played so much that I've dubbed them my new "boy toys." I wish The Moms had let me bring them home with us.

I heard that the party for Mom Diane's Pop at de Greeff Hospice House was a wonderful celebration. Although he was very ill, he was able to recognize and connect with the many family members and friends who came to see him. He even read all of his cards and ate some of his birthday cake.

I really wanted to meet him but soon after his birthday celebration his earthly light began to dim and he could no longer fight the good fight against the cancer. During his last hours, he was surrounded by his children who stood together in his room and told stories of times past that made them all laugh to the point of tears. Although I couldn't be in the room, I was able to hang out with other family members on the outdoor patio near by. I did the best I could to make them smile during a very difficult time. Sometimes being awesomely cute and spunky comes in handy!

Alas, Mom Diane's Pop made his transition to spirit on Monday October 6th, just two days after his 83rd birthday celebration. It was a very sad time for everyone. As a decorated veteran of WWII he was laid to rest in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary with military honors on Friday, October 10. Although we never met each other, I know that he was a great guy and we would have gotten along famously.

On Saturday, we all headed back home to KC. The Moms were struggling with a stomach bug so I thought I might have to be the designated driver! Luckily, with some fortification from Gatorade and a heavy foot, Mom Diane got us back home in good time and in one piece. Trust me when I say that we were all dog tired!

The Moms decided that it was totally unfair that the cats had a couch to snooze on and I didn't so they bought one for me that's just my size. Sa-weeet! It's also the place I get sent to when I have to take a time out - usually for harassing those wussy cats. That's okay because I lay there and mutter at them "Nah, nah, nah nah, nah, I've got my own couch and you don't."

A Day in the LIfe of Angus

What a dog gone great day! The sky is blue, the grass is green and I've been busy, busy, busy. This morning I went with The Moms to The Filling Station where they love to go for an iced mocha and a vanilla latte. I got lots of attention right off the bat and even a couple of dog biscuits. The Moms think caffeine might stunt my growth so I couldn't have my own espresso drink. Whatever.

After that we went to Loose Park for a little jaunt on the path. There were these weird looking, long necked wing-flapping animals swimming in the water. Not sure what they were but they gave me goose-bumps! Then, we headed to Brookside Barkery and Bath, a way cool place to hang out! I got more pets and complements, as well as a new portable water bottle. After that, we walked around all the booths at the Strut Your Mutt event in Brookside and picked up a bag full of good stuff. Met a lot of other pups, several who were of even shorter stature than me. The Moms spent a lot of time talking to other humans who wanted to find out all about me. All of this attention is going to my head! Well, after such a busy morning it's time to take a long nap so I can charge up my batteries.

Angus Khan - memoir

Okay so I haven't lived long enough to write my memoir but the first 14 weeks of my life have been pretty darn action packed.

I was born on June 14, 2008 at Kingsbury Cardigans kennel owned by breeder extraordinaire Jacque Schatz-Glenn and husband, Don Glenn. My mommy, Josie (Passione Adagio), and daddy, Morgan (Kerman Strike Up the Band), are both champions and my maternal granddaddy, I'm Harry P, won best of breed four years in a row at Westminster Dog Show. In other words, I have a lot to live up to but I can handle the pressure. Right now my long term goal is to compete in agility but we will see how that all plays out.

When I was 12 weeks old, I was adopted by two awesome mommies, Diane and Mary. In my new home, I have two cranky cats, Beaux and Gracie, on whom I practice herding. They are not too bad as far as cats go except they keep trying to steal my food! We see eye to eye on most things - probably because we are all about the same size at the moment.
